
Bruce Stewart
Head of Family Office
Bruce is the Head of Family Office at Robertson Stephens. He brings over 25 years of experience in building and advising single-family offices, as well as serving as an outsourced chief investment officer. In this role, he will develop a practice designed for families with more sophisticated needs than those typically addressed by traditional multi-family offices.
Prior to Robertson Stephens, Bruce was the founder and Chief Investment Officer at Spartan Risk Solutions (SRS), a discreet family office consultancy specializing in the development of family offices and Outsourced-Chief Investment Officer (O-CIO) solutions. Previously, Bruce was the Global Head of Investments for Bank of NY Family Office, where he led an investment team managing nearly $15 billion in assets. His leadership roles also include serving as President of BNY Mellon Canada, Co-Head of Investments at Toronto Dominion Bank, and Co-Founder and Chief Investment Officer for a Boston-based family office.
Bruce has authored several white papers, including Managing the Pain Index, Manager Selection Methodology, Classic Portfolio Theory vs. Modern Portfolio Theory, Locked Up – What You Thought You Knew About Private Equity, Managing the Denominator Effect, and most recently, Maintaining Mathematical Civility in Hedge Fund Design.
Bruce graduated from Purdue University, Knoy School of Technology and received an MBA from University of Pennsylvania, Wharton School. He is a member of CFA Institute, CAIA Association, and Investment Management Consultants Association (CIMA). Born and raised in South America, Bruce is fluent in Spanish and has a working knowledge of Guarani and Portuguese. In his spare time, he serves as Chair of the Investment Committee for The Home for Little Wanderers & Latino Legacy Foundation.
