Ellen Kim

Managing Director, Principal

Ellen is a Managing Director and Principal in Robertson Stephens Portland office. Ellen’s financial industry background has been broad and deep spanning more than 20 years. She has worked with both high net worth and ultra high net worth families in a number of different roles – including advisory, financial planning, analytics and performance measurement.

Prior to Robertson Stephens, Ellen co-founded Rain Capital and was the Chief Operating Officer at Rain Capital, where she oversaw the day-to-day operations of the firm. In addition, she provided strategic leadership for growth, process efficiencies, and client service elevation initiatives. She was also involved in the investment process and portfolio construction. Prior to co-founding Rain Capital, she served as an Associate and Practice Liaison in the Wealth Management Practice at Arnerich Massena. While there, she supported the Director of Wealth Management in portfolio management, business growth, and firm-wide process efficiencies. She also played a central role in distributing investment research to Wealth Management clients.

Previously, Ellen served as an Investment Analyst at Greycourt and Company, an investment advisory firm focused on ultra-high net worth individuals. Her past experience also includes roles as a Senior Analyst and Financial Planning Associate with Pacific Investment Advisors, a Financial Advisor with Morgan Stanley, and a Senior Performance Analyst with Windermere Investment Associates.

Ellen holds an M.B.A. in Finance from the University of Portland and a B.S. in Finance and HR Management from Portland State University. Ellen enjoys baking, gardening, knitting and embarking on culinary adventures with her husband, son and daughter.
