Stuart Katz

Chief Executive Officer and Chief Investment Officer

Stuart Katz is the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Investment Officer for Robertson Stephens. Stuart Katz was the President and founding member responsible for the establishment in 2012 of The Heyman Enterprise LLC, a single-family investment office based in New York City. Mr. Katz was responsible for all aspects of the business including but not limited to, developing an overall investment strategy based on the patriarch’s performance objectives, sourcing, analyzing and executing investment opportunities, establishing decision-making processes and reporting infrastructure, recruiting talent, negotiating investment commitments, and advising the patriarch on critical decisions and communications.

Prior to The Heyman Enterprise, Mr. Katz was a Managing Director of Amber Capital and member of its Investment Committee from 2009 to 2012. Amber is an alternative asset management firm that employs a value and event-driven investment long/short strategy focused on public securities in Europe, Latin America and the United States. Previously, he was a Managing Director at Goldman, Sachs & Co. where he was employed for 15 years both in the New York and London offices. As a Managing Director in their Merchant Banking Division (Principal Investment Area), he focused on private equity and credit investment opportunities. Mr. Katz was Co-Head of the financial services investment platform with responsibility for selected investments in other sectors including industrial and media companies. During his career, Mr. Katz was elected a board member of various public and private companies and nonprofit organizations. He served on various board committees.

Mr. Katz earned an MBA from Harvard Graduate School of Business and an AB from Dartmouth College where he graduated Phi Beta Kappa, magna cum laude. Stuart also studied at the London School of Economics. He lives in NYC with his wife and two daughters and enjoys coaching his daughters’ soccer teams.
