Mary Alpers, CFP®, EA, MBA, is Managing Director and Principal of the Robertson Stephens Colorado Springs office. She has provided wealth planning, investment management and tax planning expertise to her clients for over 20 years. She works with high-net-worth individuals and families, including professional couples, women and widows, retirees, and small business owners.
Prior to joining Robertson Stephens, Mary was the President of Three Points Financial, Inc. formerly known as Alpers Financial Planning, Inc. She began her full-time career at Hughes Aircraft as a procedural writer, then SYVA/SYNTEX, a medical diagnostic company in Silicon Valley as a productivity analyst. While taking time to raise her children, she completed her MBA, did some consulting, and began a tax practice. After relocating to Colorado in 2001 with her family, she entered the world of comprehensive financial planning.
Mary is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional and holds a Master’s Degree in Corporate Finance from Golden Gate University in California. From 2012–2015, Mary served on the Board of Directors of the Alliance of Comprehensive Planners (ACP) (www.acplanners.org), a non-profit organization of fee-only financial advisors. She is a member of NAPFA (National Association of Personal Financial Advisors) (www.napfa.com). Both organizations foster a fee-only, comprehensive approach to financial planning. She is also a member of The National Association of Tax Practitioners (www.natptax.com). Mary regularly writes and speaks on financial topics and has been quoted in numerous financial articles.
Mary was raised in Southern California and worked at Disneyland during college. Her daughter, son in law and three grandchildren live in Colorado, her son and his wife live in Texas, and her stepdaughter and husband live in Idaho. She enjoys photography and other hobbies and exploring the outdoors with her husband. Aside from exploring new places, they often return to favorites such as Dana Point, California and the California Bay Area to see friends and family and soak in the ocean and weather.
