There is only a small chance that there will be many surprises in the FOMC Interest Rate decision on Wednesday, despite this writer’s hope that the interest rate cut that now seems firmly supported by the data might happen sooner rather than later. The stock market received a boost at the end of a volatile week as key economic data fueled speculation that the Federal Reserve might pave the way for an interest rate cut in September. The S&P 500 rose by 1.1%, the Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed 1.6%, and the Nasdaq 100 added 1%. Meanwhile, Treasury 10-year Yields dropped five basis points to 4.19%, and the Russell 2000 of small caps increased by 1.7%.
